Prospector problems, Wednesday 11/30

The Prospector catalog is currently not working properly. You can search the catalog, but cannot place a request or view the list of libraries that own the book.

The Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries is aware of the problem, and is working on a fix. Unfortunately, we do not know when it will be fixed. Please try later today or tomorrow.

UPDATE: Problem solved, Prospector back to normal. Whew.

Mini-exhibition: Food and Drink at CC

"Food and Drink at Colorado College" is our new mini-exhibition on the second floor of Tutt Library, courtesy of Special Collections.

Includes dishes from a Bemis Hall demitasse set (cups, saucers, toast covers, and engraved spoons, ca. 1924), menus, photographs, and more.

Watch for a complementary exhibition of books on food and cooking coming soon to the first floor of Tutt, near the circulation and reference desks.

Careers and Grad School Reference Area in Tutt

In cooperation with the Career Center, Tutt Library has created a new Careers and Graduate School information area. It's located right behind the reference desk. It includes the most current guides for:
* graduate schools
* test prep for the GRE, LSAT, GMAT, MCAT, and others
* career exploration information
* study and working abroad
* internships
* professional schools in social work, law, health professions, and other areas

The reference librarians can advise you about how to use these materials, or give us a call at x6662. You can also contact the Career Center at x6893 for a personal appointment.

Lunch & Learn: Buying a Computer (Th. 12/1)

Join Tim Kallman, Administrative Technology Specialist, for this timely session on purchasing computers (both Apples and PCs) for departmental and personal use. Learn about purchasing plans available for the Colorado College community, along with information on how to find reviews and online buying sites.

Students: please take our library survey!

Colorado College has recently begun a conversation about a future library building. A committee of students, faculty, and staff has formed to discuss the "programming" of this theoretical place -- what its uses would be, and what it should look like, feel like, and mean to the campus. If you'd like to see what this Library Program Committee has been up to, take a look at the committee's blog. See especially some photographs of CC's old library, Coburn.

Students on the library programming committee have written a five-minute survey about the current building. CC students, we want your input! The survey consists of a quick bunch of multiple-choice questions and has plenty of space for optional comments. Please help the committee understand what students want and need out of the library, and take the survey now.

Working with Images: Lunch & Learn, Th 11/10

It is not too early to start working on your annual Holiday Letter. Or maybe you have had trouble adding images or clip art to a paper. Jan Enright, CAT Lab Coordinator in the Learning Commons, will share some tips and tricks for working with images or clip art in Word documents. Intro to RefWorks: Wed. 11/9 at 1:00

Wednesday, November 9 at 1:00, Humanities Librarian Steve Lawson will present an introductory session on using RefWorks in the TLC1 classroom, south basement of Tutt Library. The session will be geared for thesis students, but all are welcome.

Learn how to use RefWorks to keep track of books and articles you will be citing in your papers, and to automatically create bibliographies in any format (APA, MLA, Turabian, Chicago, etc.). The class will go for 60 to 90 minutes, but feel free to come even if you can't stay the whole time.
