As part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, Denver poet Ramon Del Castillo will read and discuss his work at Slocum Commons. He will read at 7 pm on Tuesday, September 12, as part of the Visiting Writers Series. Dr. Del Castillo has worked in the fields of mental health, education and community and economic development. He is currently the Chair of the Masters Program in Nonprofit Management at Regis University. He is also adjunct faculty in the Chicana and Chicano Studies Department at Metropolitan State College of Denver. As a past columnist for the Rocky Mountain News and a current columnist for El Semanario, Dr. Del Castillo is known for his thought provoking and insightful essays regarding the plight of persons of color and public policy concerns and issues. In 2002, he was the winner of El Semanario's Journalist Award, for Writing and Literary Mentorship. He is the author of several volumes of poetry, most recently Tales from a michoacano PS3554.E4422 T35 2002. This event is cosponsored by Tutt Library, the Student Cultural Center, and the Romance Languages Department.
