Haiku Contest Winners
Many thanks to everyone who entered the Tutt Library First Annual Haiku Contest. Our panel of 22 judges made multi-tiered blind votes for their favorite haikus, and three prizes have now been awarded. The winning haikus are:
Third place goes to the Thesis-Writing Senior Collective, for:
Where should I go now?
Your books make me feel at home
2 am, homeless
Second place belongs to Lynne Stahl, for:
more home than my house
forward all mail to carrel
seventy-three, please
And the first place winner of this year's Haiku Contest is David Cummings, whose winning haiku is:
Suddenly, darkness.
No escape. You are crushed by
Moveable shelving.
Once again, our thanks to all poets and judges for making this contest a rousing success! We're already looking forward to next year's entries. And check out the next issue of the Chronicle to see even more of our favorite haiku submissions.
Congratulations to David Cummings for winning the haiku contest!
Congrats to Lynne Stahl for 2nd place, and the Thesis-Writing Senior Collective for 3rd place!
It's great that the next issue of the Chronicle features more haiku too!
I noticed you didn't stock any of Bill Higginson's ground-breaking books on haiku such as "The Haiku Handbook" and "Haiku Seasons", well worth a purchase of one or both of these longtime classics! ;-)
Also U.S. haiku writer Roberta Beary was a finalist for the Poetry Society of America's 'William Carlos Williams' Award for "The Unworn Necklace" available at Amazon.com:

This has a look inside feature at Amazon.com!
