Welcome Oberlin Group Library Directors!

Tutt Library is hosting a meeting of over 60 liberal arts college library directors October 1-3.  Among the topics on the agenda: strategies for managing our libraries in the new economy; next generation library catalogs; the open access movement; book arts and the liberal arts.  Why is it called the Oberlin Group? Oberlin College hosted the first meeting of 60 liberal arts college library directors in 1986, and it has been called the Oberlin Group ever since.  See the Oberlin Group website for a list of members.

Press at Colorado College Open House and Lecture

Thursday, October 1, please join us for two press-related events.

The Press at Colorado College will host an open house from 6-7PM, showing off its wonderful new home in Taylor Hall (just East of Bemis Hall).

Then at 7:00 in the Screening Room of the Cornerstone Arts Center, curator and book arts scholar Betty Bright will review the brilliant history of the Press at Colorado College and its impact on the worlds of fine letterpress printing and book arts. The former curator and program director for the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, Dr. Bright curated the traveling exhibition The Press at Colorado College: The Pressroom as Classroom. The 2004 exhibition and illustrated catalogue explored and celebrated collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching methods at The Press at Colorado College over a twenty-year period.

Tutt Library Celebrates Banned Books Week

Tutt Library is celebrating Banned Books Week and intellectual freedom during Block 2.  Come check out a banned book from our display in the lobby of Tutt!  Libraries across the country help safeguard the free and open exchange of information and ideas.

"Find Journals," "Tutt Link" maintenance Sat afternoon (Sept 12) - canceled

Tutt Library's Find Journals list will be unavailable on Saturday September 12 between 3pm to 5pm due to network maintenance.  The "Tutt Link" pawprint button seen in various library databases will not function while this maintenance is being done.

As a reminder, you can still find journals in full-text by searching the journal title in the TIGER catalog.

Update (Fri - 2pm)-- This maintenance has been canceled and will be rescheduled for another date.

Blow bubbles at Tutt, noon on Friday

Starting at noon on Friday, September 4, we will be blowing bubbles on the front porch at Tutt Library and serving milk and cookies to mark the end of the first week of classes. Please join us.

We were inspired by Cecily's Bubble Day at the Vancouver Public Library, and she was inspired by Burbuliatorius, a monthly bubble celebration in Lithuania.
