The current mini-exhibition in the library atrium shows pictures of the statue in front of the library similar to the one shown here.
Tutt Library is named for Charles "Chas" Leaming Tutt, Jr., a trustee of CC and president of the El Pomar Foundation, which gave $1.25 million for a new library building in 1959.
In 1992, Edward Honnen commissioned the statue of him that stands out front.
Over the years, CC students, faculty, and staff have decorated "Chas"
in various ways. As you'll see from the photos on display in the
library atrium, they have done this with affection and imagination and
always a sense of humor.
We put up some version of this mini-exhibition every year, updating the collection of phots with the new outfits resulting from this rather silly and fun tradition.
Enjoy!
