On Thursday, February 1st Lynda Barry will speak at 7 p.m. in the Celeste Theatre in Cornerstone Arts. She is credited with expanding the literary, thematic, and emotional range of American comics. This is due in part to her seminal comic strip, Ernie Pook’s Comeek.
Comics Alliance listed Barry as one of twelve women cartoonists deserving of lifetime achievement recognition. She teaches writing. A New York Times article from 10/27/2011, stated in regards to her workshops: "Barry isn't particularly interested in the writer’s craft. She's more interested in where ideas come from — and her goal is to help people tap into what she considers to be an innate creativity."
