Study Space for Music Capstone Students

Senior Music Majors:  Are you tired of carrying all your stuff back and forth across campus?  Would you like a place to store your resources while working on your Capstone project?  Now you can take advantage of space in the Music Library group listening rooms.  Just pick a space on one of the shelves, get  a "RESERVED" form form from the circulation desk,  fill this out and place it on a bookend with your stuff, and you can drop your materials in the library for easy access.

A few conditions:

·          since these are group listening rooms, you may only study here if no other group needs the room for listening.  You can easily pick up your materials and take them into the library’s main room

  • Due to space limitations, we can only offer this space to music students completing Capstone projects.
  • The Music Library will not be responsible for the theft/damage of any non-library materials in your stash.
  • All library materials must be checked out.  No non-circulating materials may be kept in your stash.

Pre-Theory Exams available in the Music Library

In order to assure placement in the appropriate course, students planning to enroll in Pre-Theory or Theory 1 who have had experience with music notation are required to take the Pre-Theory Exam. Please request this exam at the circulation desk in the Music Library. The exam will be taken in the library (one hour is allowed).  Please return the exam to the circulation desk. Exams will be delivered to the Music Department for grading; students will be notified of results in 1 or 2 days.

Students who have had no experience with music notation will not take the exam.  Please contact the appropriate instructor (either Dan Brink, Nilanjana Bhattacharjya, or Ofer Ben-Amots) to obtain the enrollment pin number.

Please contact the Music Department if you have any questions concerning the Pre-Theory Exam or theory courses.
